Buildings are art. And, every structure has a story that can be told through pictures.
There’s a special art and science to capture the history of buildings through HABS/HAER photography. Working within a unique set of specifications, Doug uses a fully-adjustable camera with large format film. There’s no alteration of the image so you have to get it right the first time.
Doug enjoys working creatively and collaboratively with a team of historians, architects, archivists and others to help preserve a building’s rich history through images.
The National Park Service’s Heritage Documentation Programs (HDP) require the use of large format films with archival processing & printing, handling, and presentation materials. All of Doug’s materials and processing techniques meet the permanence guidelines mandated for HDP programs including HABS, HAER, and HALS.
In addition to the large format equipment required to produce film images, Doug provides other options for producing documentation that meets specific state and local standards.
